What Does “Indexed” Mean on Google or Bing?
“Is my website indexed?” sounds simple, but it is different from asking whether the page has been discovered, crawled or ranked. Here is the distinction in normal language.
Search language made simple
Indexed means a search engine has added a page to its searchable index.
People often use “Google can see my website” to describe several different stages. A search engine can discover a URL, crawl it, process it and still decide not to index it. An indexed page can then appear in search results when the engine believes it is relevant.
Crawled
A crawler has fetched the page and attempted to read its content, links and technical signals.
Indexed
The page has been processed and added to the search engine's index so it can be considered for search results.
And what is ranking?
Being indexed does not mean being near the top.
Ranking is the later question: when somebody searches, where does the page appear for that specific query? A page can be indexed correctly and still sit far below competitors because another result is more relevant, more useful, more authoritative or better matched to the searcher's intent.
Quick example
If Bing says a homepage is indexed successfully, that confirms it is eligible to appear. It does not mean Bing promises first position for “web design” or any other phrase.
How do I check?
Use URL Inspection rather than guessing.
Google Search Console's URL Inspection tool shows Google's current index information for a URL and can test the live page. Bing Webmaster Tools has its own URL Inspection tool for crawl, index, SEO and markup information.

Inspect the exact URL. If it is not indexed, read the reported status before deciding what action is appropriate.
Bing Webmaster Tools
Inspect the URL to see whether Bing has indexed it and whether Bing reports crawl, processing, SEO or markup issues.
Real Vantora example
Vantora's homepage was confirmed as indexed by Bing.
On 17 August 2026, Bing Webmaster Tools URL Inspection reported the Vantora homepage as indexed successfully and displayed no SEO/GEO issues for that inspected page.
That is useful technical confirmation. It still does not guarantee where the homepage ranks for a particular search phrase.
