Search Monitoring Tools Compared

Google Search Console vs Bing Webmaster Tools
Do I Need Both?

If you already use Google Search Console, you may wonder whether Bing Webmaster Tools is worth setting up too. They overlap in purpose but give you different search-engine data.

Two webmaster platforms

They overlap, but they report on different search engines.

Google Search Console shows how Google sees and surfaces your website. Bing Webmaster Tools provides similar monitoring for Bing and adds its own features such as Site Scan and IndexNow reporting. If organic search matters to the business, using both gives you a wider technical view.

What should a business actually use?

Use each platform for evidence, not as a box-ticking exercise.

Google Search Console is useful for...

  • Submitting and monitoring the sitemap.
  • Checking Google's index status for an exact URL.
  • Reviewing Google search queries, impressions and clicks.
  • Investigating indexing and page-level issues.
  • Monitoring visibility in Google's generative AI features where reporting is available.

Bing Webmaster Tools is useful for...

  • Submitting and monitoring the sitemap in Bing.
  • Inspecting Bing crawl, index, SEO and markup information.
  • Reviewing Bing search-performance data.
  • Running Site Scan for technical SEO issues.
  • Monitoring IndexNow activity and URL submissions.
Real Vantora example

Vantora uses both rather than assuming one covers everything.

On 17 August 2026, Vantora Web Studio completed its own search-visibility setup and recorded a useful technical snapshot: the XML sitemap had been submitted to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, 31 sitemap URLs were submitted through IndexNow, Bing reported the homepage as successfully indexed with no SEO/GEO issues, and a Bing Site Scan crawled 37 pages with 0 errors and 0 warnings.

Those results confirm that the technical discovery and crawl foundations were working at that point. They do not guarantee a search position, traffic level or future ranking.

Google side

The sitemap was submitted to Search Console and individual changed/new pages were inspected while Google processed the updated site.

Bing side

Bing confirmed the homepage indexed successfully, accepted the sitemap for processing and completed a 37-page Site Scan with no errors or warnings.

Do these tools improve rankings by themselves?

No. They help you understand and manage search visibility.

Adding a property to Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools does not create authority, relevance or customer demand. Their value is that they show you what the search engines are seeing so you can make better technical and content decisions.
